about

‘colour blind’, (put bluntly) is about my taste in love interests. I visibly cringe a lot of the time when talking about past flames with my friends, but at the end of the day, it’s totally my fault for running along with these relationships when deep down I knew they weren’t good for me (or the other person for that matter). Songwriting is a way of unpacking emotions and why I do things - and writing ‘colour blind’ was a really frank and blunt exploration for me personally of why we tend to put people we love on pedestals, and fall into toxic behaviours. It’s a self depreciating and humorous dive into my inner monologue and views on my love life, packaged up with vintage guitars, lo-fi and playful pads and keys and a soaring angsty chorus melody.

TL:DR; this is about my taste in boys. It has been seemingly not very good. But the only common denominator here is me.

lyrics

This will be number 4 in the past two years
Killing my vibe and causing me tears
Need to calm down, I need to chill out
I don’t know what I am doing here
At the door of another flaky mess
I’m not looking after my best interests
Need to calm down, I need to stop now
I need to stop now

My heart says yes
Everyone says no
The traffic lights are red
But I still go

All these red flags, don’t see the signs
I seem to do this every time
I’ll admit I’ve got a type
Emotionally unavailable guys
Know I should look before I fall
But where’s the fun in that at all
My friends tell me check my eyes
All these red flags, but I’m colour blind
But I’m colour blind

Guess I see the good in everyone
Or maybe I just want the attention
I forget the consequences
That come with falling in love
We all know it’s my own damn fault
Easily impressed, and easily sold
Need to calm down, I need to stop now
I need to stop now

Fool me once, the shame’s on you
Fool me twice, the blame’s on me
Three times call it history
Four times that’s a tragedy

Fool me once, the shame’s on you (My heart says yes)
Fool me twice, the blame’s on me (Everyone says no)
Three times call it history (The traffic lights are red)
Four times that’s a tragedy (But I still go)
